► There’s going to be a podcast dedicated to the posts from Ursula K. Le Guin’s blog! So far, there’s only a one minute trailer out, which I listened to earlier today, where her son & literary executor explains the project. I’ve read a few of her blog posts here and there, generally due to someone linking to a specific one, but that’s about it, so I’m finding myself quite intrigued.

► I’m not entirely sure how I originally came across this—possible via the Renegade Bindery discord server?—but earlier this week, I read through the first issue of the FANMADE magazine. It wasn’t quite what I expected—I was thinking more of something like a short zine, but it was genuinely a full-blown magazine, with articles and little games (I loved the crosswords <3) and all sorts of things, and it took me a bit more than an hour to go through it all. I didn’t read every article (I’m squicked by pregnancy, so the mpreg spotlight was a no, and I did not feel up to reading/thinking about AI in fandom at the time, so I skipped that one too), but I checked out most of it, and while I had some minor issues with some of the articles, overall I’d say I enjoyed it!

I do have the sense that the creators of this magazine are coming from the western media/television side of things, fandom-wise, which has really never been my sphere, but I don’t have the sense that they’re against putting other fandoms in the spotlight, just (probably?) that’s what they’re familiar with / had people offering to write articles about. But this is only the first issue, so we’ll see. In any case, I am interested enough to want to check out future issues.

Also, for one of the mad libs-style games, I ended up with this paragraph & was rather entertained (bolded text were the words I picked out beforehand):
One day, I was kissing in the library with my roommate and got an idea for a fic. Without thinking, I looked up Can you die if you punch too much? right in front of them. They didn’t know about my secret love for writing Sakura going through unimaginable pain and then being saved and comforted by Sai, so I had some explaining to do.
And then they were roommates… love the “interrupting a makeout session to do spontaneous fic research”, lol. No wonder the narrator has some explaining to do!!! Also also… don’t think Sai is going to be the greatest at comforting, ahahaha, though tbh, as long as the characterization was right, I would genuinely read that fic. Sai/Sakura, my beloved <3
