0041 | in which I use this entry to distract myself from panicking about graduating

► I... just finished writing the last papers I'll ever have to write as an undergrad. And I took my last exam this morning. ...For some reason, this makes me feel mildly panicky. It's starting to hit me that I actually am going to be graduating on Friday, and I don't really know how I feel about it / how to handle it.

► Which means that I need to distract myself. My next topic is Important Moments of Your Reading Life. Most of my important reading moments are more of montages of the many times I reread my favorite books as a kid, but there's a couple specific moments that do come to mind. One is how when I, as an elementary schooler, went to the book fair at my big brother's middle school, and came across Eleanor's Story: An American Girl in Hitler's Germany by Eleanor Ramrath Garner. My mom bought it for me, and it became one of my all-time favorite books— it's impossible to count how many times I reread it. It was just such an important book to me— I even wrote the author once, and she actually answered me with an actual, handwritten, personalized response!

It's been years since the last time I reread it, but I still have it on my bookshelf, with the letter the author wrote me tucked inside the front cover. I think I might need to read it again sometime— it's been far too long.

► Continuing my discussion of the Shall We Date? games I've played...

I'm also playing Shall We Date? My Fairy Tales, which was actually the first one which I downloaded. Honestly, though, it's... probably one of my least favorites that I've played? Part of it is that I don't like Luna very much, which is a bit odd, since I'm usually all over the main character of otome games. I like the idea of genderbent fairy tales, but the story— at least for Ocean, whose route I chose— feels a bit dull. Finally, its requirements for finishing the game are a bit ridiculous— I started playing this game well over a week before I picked up any of the other games in the series, but I haven't beaten it yet because I'm still trying to earn enough in-game money to pass the last checkpoint.

The other game in the series that I've been playing quite a bit of is Shall We Date? Mononoke Kiss. In terms of gameplay / monetary models, it, while not being perfect, hasn't managed to annoy me yet, which is good. In terms of story and characters, I like it much, much more than My Fairy Tales, but not as much as The Nilfheim. Sakura's definitely not as amazing as Isabella, but she is kind of adorable.

I beat this one for the first time on the same night I beat The Nilfheim, albeit a few hours later. I went with Hajime's route first, but... he was a bit of a disappointment? There were some things I liked about it, but overall I'm not too crazy about him. I'm doing Hikobane's route now, and, as of right now, I like him much more. I should have gone with my first instinct and chose him when playing it for the first time, haha.

I also have Shall We Date? Angel or Devil and Shall We Date? Magic Sword, but I haven't played very much of either of them, as I've mostly been concentrating on the above-mentioned games and the one I talked about in my last entry, Shall We Date? The Nilfheim. For these two, I've mostly just been collecting the in-game money while ignoring the main story for now. That being said, an event started today in Magic Sword, so I've been playing some of the side stories to gain some items.

And that's about all I have to say for now. ♥ See you all tomorrow!
