0050 | in which I begin Dragon Age: Awakening and receive a pleasant surprise
► Today's topic is my Reading Regret. I was all ready to chirp, "I don't have any!", but then I remembered that was not quite the case. There is one book that I've been wanting to forget since the moment I read it, and that book's name is Bliss. I don't remember the author or much else about it; all I remember is that I desperately wanted to scrub it out of my mind.
► Today, I finally was able to begin Dragon Age: Awakening! I didn't get very far with it, though, because my mom asked me to go Christmas shopping with her, and when I got home my brother had picked up Kingdom Hearts again. Still, I have a few things to say about it.
And that was around where I stopped, so that's all I have to say about it.

- I began this game with a pleasant surprise— I got to play as my Lúthien again! ♥ I was under the impression that Awakening had a different main character, but apparently not? In any case, I am most definitely not complaining because Lúthien. ♥
That being said, where is Zevran? I seem to recall him saying something about how he could not be torn from my side... =P - I was actually a bit baffled at the beginning— it really threw me straight into the story— but I figured out what was going on soon enough.
- When Anders popped up, I was all, "so this is Anders". I'm vaguely aware about there being... some controversy? something? about him in regards to Dragon Age II, and that he's not exactly who he appeared as in this game (?), but I like him so far, and not just because I want him for combat. (tl;dr it's always good to have a mage, and I like his set-up a lot, much more than even Morrigan's.)
- The idea of Oghren as a Grey Warden... works surprisingly well for me, actually. Like, I would have never thought of it on my own, but once he suggested it, I was all, oh, that actually would work really well.
- Big explosions, talking darkspawn, stuff I don't care about, etc. then occurred.
- And then came Alistair! He's no Zevran (or even Morrigan), but I was pleased to see him nonetheless.
I particularly loved the bit where he misunderstood the woman who was with him when she referred to Anders being a dangerous criminal, and thought she was talking about Oghren instead. Hee. - So, I decided to allow Oghren to join the Grey Wardens (his commentary on the drinking of the darkspawn blood was rather amusing), and invoked the Right of Conscription on Anders right away (because, um, mage? do want). The moment I realized that Mhairi had not yet done the rite of initiation, I... had a really bad feeling that she would not survive it. I was right.
And that was around where I stopped, so that's all I have to say about it.
