143 | exchange temptation, & some Stand Still Stay Silent musings
► I’d promised myself no more exchanges until Trick or Treat because I was feeling rather burned out, but now I’ve found myself eyeing
darkestnightex... and brainstorming possible requests… and maybe also nominating stuff for those possible requests. Um.
► I was reading through Stand Still Stay Silent again (...actually, I’ve already reread all of it, if I'm being perfectly honest;;;;), and noticed that in chapter four, there was some interesting potential foreshadowing for Tuuri’s death. On 189, when Tuuri and the others are loading up the tank in preparation for going through the silent world, she cracks the glass on her frame of her picture of herself, Lalli, and Onni— and the worst of the damage centers on where Tuuri’s face is.
Maybe I’m reading too much into it, but my inner lit-nerd still finds it interesting.
(There’s also an interesting / heartbreaking call-back between one of the last things Tuuri says to Onni in-person back in chapter one, and the last thing Onni says to Tuuri’s spirit as it’s going away in chapter fifteen. ;_;)
(Though I still have to giggle at Lalli’s confused, “Bye?” to Onni on that chapter one page. Darling. ♥)
On another note… I’ve also been thinking about what’s going to happen re: Sigrun’s arm. It is possible that her injury has already played its role in how it helped lead to Tuuri’s infection / death, but… how feverish / unwell she is still concerns me. Before I got to Tuuri’s death in my first read-through, I considered the possibility of her dying (from the infection), but now I don’t think that’s going to happen. Not so close on the heels of Tuuri’s death. (I mean, it still could, but I don’t think it’s as likely.) But… I do wonder if it might lead to an amputation? There was that scene in one of the earlier chapters (idk which one right now) where Sigrun grills Mikkel on his medical credential, and he’s super indirect with her until she asks if he could at least amputate something if needed. So there is some groundwork for it there, I think? Idk, it’s just a thought. It's also possible that it's there to put her out of commission when the group needs her expertise the most, or something else entirely.
Finally, the cover image for chapter sixteen is gorgeous and heartbreaking and I love it. ♥

I... do technically have a tumblr (cynical-idealist, for the record), but I'm not actually all that active there (though I've been using it a little bit more the last week or so) and mostly use it just for reblogging pretty art / interesting posts. Which is not to say that you can't talk to me on there! Just that I might not notice it in a timely matter, whereas I'm pretty much glued to my DW.
Anyways. Hi! I'm not very good at introductions either, but I am really excited about you contacting me like this, haha. ♥
