147 | in which I finish Solstice, and make myself a bag!

► So yesterday, I completed Solstice 100%. I don’t have too much to say about it beyond what I already have, but there was one ending variation that I wanted to touch briefly on. Namely, the variation of the “True Winter” ending where Galen and Yani choose to try to escape with Yakone. I was actually a bit hopeful about this one, since Yani and Yakone running off together is something I’ve been intrigued by since Yakone brought it up in the Galen-goes-to-jail route, and I thought it might make a good starting point for Yani/Yakone… ahahaha, nope. They all die.

To be fair, that is very much in the spirit of the True Winter ending, and once I had a few seconds to get over my disappointment, I actually really like this ending? I just find the way the tribes reacted to finding Yakone’s body really intriguing, and I like how she’s venerated by them for something she never actually did, though I can’t quite put my finger on why it appeals to me so much.

I was going to play another visual novel next… and then I somehow started Transistor instead. Whoops. I don’t have too much to say about it yet, but I am enjoying it.

► Also yesterday: I finished a sewing project! My first, unless you count a teddy bear that I made in high school, which I don’t, mainly because I keep forgetting about it. I’m especially pleased about it because I am the queen of unfinished crafty projects, and I went back to this one after taking a break for 2+ weeks and actually finished it. (That baby blanket I was crocheting for my friend, on the other hand… ahahahaha.)

It’s a bag, and I followed this tutorial to make it. It was… mostly a good tutorial, except for a really baffling paragraph at the end which had me pinning my bag a million different ways to figure out what they meant, and making the horrifying mistake of sewing on my straps backwards. But it all worked out in the end, and at least I know how it goes for a maybe-next time.

Here’s the end result:

Black and yellow is not normally my color scheme of choice— hell, yellow isn’t usually my color of choice; I strongly prefer cool colors— but I couldn’t resist the bees. I love bees. ♥
