225 | BingQiu Week 2020 Art Recs
Today I decided to go through my twitter likes and pull together a rec thread for the art posted during this year’s BingQiu Week (which, for my future self’s reference, ran 21 - 28 June this year). I’d include fic recs too, but I’ve had Absolutely No Brain lately, so I haven’t read most of them yet. Maybe another post, at another time!
I’ve organized this post by which day each piece was posted for. ★ = personal absolute favorites
While sorting through my likes to make this post, I came across a lot non-BingQiu Week-related art that I’d also like to rec, so a second rec post for those pieces should be coming soon-ish.
Day One - Hero / Villain / Gamer AU
★ INCREDIBLY STRIKING rendition of the Endless Abyss scene; I adored their use of color and silhouettes.

Another take on the flying leaves scene! This time featuring SQQ walking away with the pendant as Binghe picks up the bloodied leaves.
Binghe & SQQ dressed in armor. Please note that I haven’t yet read the accompanying fic, but I do like the art.

Binghe holding SQQ in the aftermath of the “I’ll repay it all today” scene, done in a chibi-esque style. Binghe’s expression is haunting.

Day Three - Spoil / Worth / Idol AU
post-canon, SQQ combing Binghe’s hair.
To quote the artist’s notes, ”Scary Demon Lord spoiled daily by his husband”. Love the contrast between the details of the background and the silhouettes of the characters!
LBH using tears to win SQQ over, done in a very comedic style.
the two of them curled up in bed together, safe for work, has very tender feel to it.
★ Binghe watching SQQ & his younger self in his dreams.

Day Four - Demise / Reborn / Science Fiction AU
LBH cradling SQQ’s corpse during those five years. “…Really. Shizun. If you don’t wake up, I… I can’t hold on.” ;_;
a more light-hearted take on the “demise” prompt... too much papapa is making SQQ’s HP run low!
★ SQQ being faced with the memory of white lotus LBH while standing at his sword grave. ;_;
SQQ stabbing LBH during the Endless Abyss scene. ;_;
SQQ embracing LBH right before he self-destructs.

Day Five - Protect / Rescue / Crime AU
SQQ defending a younger LBH! I love the sense of motion in this piece. And bby Bunhe’s blush! ♥
A bloodied SQQ defending Binghe! Set during the Holy Mausoleum sequence, I think?
SQQ cradling a feverish-looking Binghe.
A charmingly silly Ace Attorney AU where SQQ tries to prove maiden-hearted LBH innocent of Gongyi Xiao’s murder.
Day Six - Sacrifice / Jeopardy / Historical AU
more silhouettes, this time of right before they ascend Maigu Ridge.
★ There are a lot of good takes on the self-destruction scene, but I think this one might be my favorite. Just, SQQ’s gentle expression contrasted with the shock on LBH’s face… guh, it’s so good.
I know what I said two seconds ago about the above being my favorite take on the self-destruction scene, but this one is really, really good too.
in the style of old Chinese paintings! Very neat, imo.
Day Seven - Accompany / Healing / Pet AU
The “This time, no matter where you want to go, this master will accompany you” scene with fireworks going off in the background.
★ holding hands, as expressed across two panels.
Day Eight - Free Day
★ First kiss in the dream sequence.

The two of them carved into an actual, physical, real life leaf???? THE CREATIVITY ON DISPLAY HERE
