I mentioned in a previous post that I’ve been reading Copper Coins along with the cnovel thread bookclub over at FFA. Normally, I save all my thoughts on it for those discussions, but there was a scene in the latest chapters that caught my attention for a very very self-indulgent reason that I couldn’t talk about over there, but still wanted to make note of somewhere.
Namely, this description of the poisonous fog really made me think of the ending scene of Soon There Will Be Iceflowers, a 79 horror fic I wrote for the Scum Villain fandom some years ago:

As the fog crept in again, it felt far denser than it had been before Xue Xian had repelled it. Now, even the bamboo building could not escape it: the fog slithered in through the gaps in the windows and filled every floor with blinding whiteness, as well as a chilling cold air.Though in this case, unlike in my fic, it's not meant to be horror, but rather the prelude to sex pollen-esque... encounter. Which. I'm also very much here for.
