074 | In which I (re)watch the first two episodes of Gundam Wing
► I've decided to start rewatching Gundam Wing. I've wanted to for a while, and now that nanslice is hosting a Gundam Wing Rewatch at the pace of two episodes a week, I decided that I may as well take advantage of it.
While Gundam Wing is one of the beloved anime of my childhood, I don't think that I've actually ever seen all of it, and the parts that I have seen were all over the place, and completely out of order. I don't think it'd be inaccurate to say that I've probably seen a great deal of it, though. In any case, it's been many years, and my memory's pretty fuzzy, so I'm really looking forward to seeing it again, in order, and finally completing it.
I've decided to live-blog as I watch it. Originally, I was taking notes so I can summarize them for the discussion posts, but I think that I'm going to also share the live-blogs themselves here.
Episode One
*opening starts playing*
Me: *instant rush of feelings and nostalgia*
Okay, I can already tell that I'm going to really enjoy doing this. ♥ ♥ The teddy bear in the snow! That image always touched me as a kid.
I've always liked the narrator's voice.
ZECHS.
"One would do just dandy." that line made me snort.
I love how Zechs chooses to fight with the Leo instead of the Aries.
"Any chance that he's going to blow himself up?" Ahahaha.
The first Gundam sighting!!!
Heero Murder Count: 02
Insert maniacal laughter here.
Oh, Zechs. "He blew away two Aries with one shot!? ...Not too shabby."
Zechs looks so pretty falling from the sky. ♥
The "J-A-P point of the Asia area"— aka, Japan?
Relena's hair is so pretty. ♥
"A body!" And then she runs right to it.
Treize sighted!
"Gundams are on Earth." <- that line was in all those trailers for the series, wasn't it.
Treize's eyebrows are kind of impressive.
What was Heero trying to do with the thing that blew up on his chest?
Duo sighted! ♥
Yay, Trowa!!! "Now that you've seen me, you can't be allowed to live."
Quatre has such a pretty Gundam.
And here's Wufei. All Gundams accounted for. =D
"That Gundam isn't going to go anywhere." That's what you think, hee.
Pink car!
Relena-exposition time.
I can't remember the reason (if there is a reason) for why Heero joined Relena's school. It seems kind of weird. Was it just to get closer to Relena (so he could kill her)?
Where did all those people disappear to after Heero ripped up Relena's letter? Also, I didn't remember their initial interactions being quite so... odd, haha.
Ending theme! Time to watch Relena pet a dog with her foot. It's never occurred to me before this, but why does the ending theme star Relena + various animals?
Episode Two
That blond boy ~defending Relena's honor~ has really creepy eyes.
"Treize's little pawn."
Pisces~! (And, okay, there's a Cancer, but I'm going to focus on my star sign.)
Is Heero a knight on a white horse now? Haha. (Also, where did he learn how to ride? Are there horses on the colonies...? My impression of them is very mechanical, so that seems odd to me.)
Heero taking care of his pending payments never fails to be amusing.
"That boy's so secretive." "He has many secrets." Yes, you just said that.
...It occurs to me that a Duo Murder Count would also be a good idea, but I think it's already too late to start. I can't remember how many he killed, if any, last episode.
That woman in the yellow dress is rather pretty. I like her hair and make-up.
Relena's "thank you for coming to my birthday" sounds so stilted.
Yellow dress woman spotted! Also, the lying radio is lying. (As Relena noted about two seconds later.)
"Is he a little prince?" ...I just realized that that might be The Little Prince reference.
Oooo, Trowa's joining the circus this episode. For some reason, my memory remembered the first few episodes being focused on Heero and Relena (plus a bit of Duo), and the others being seen more later on, but apparently that wasn't the case. And that lion's so cute when it's being petted. ♥
Quatre admiring the earth makes me so happy.
"You're handing a huge amount of explosives to a kid!" Haha, I have to agree with that guy— that doesn't sound like a good idea.
"Is it self-detonating?" *doesn't move at all* Oh, that's very smart. /sarcasm
I always feel a bit bad for that guy Duo killed— the one who seemed to admire Zechs so much.
"No need to destroy a good Gundam. I'll just use it as my back-up supply." Duo is the BEST, haha.
Duo and Heero's first meeting is GREAT. I love Duo's reaction to Relena's concern for Heero. "How come I've ended up as the bad guy?"
Duo's eyes look so creepy when he holds out the flare to keep Relena from seeing the Gundam.
Duo's reaction to Heero hitting the Gundams with the torpedos never fails to amuse me.
Heero looks pretty dead when he's floating face-down in the water.
► As for Dragon Age 2: I haven't abandoned it. I just haven't been playing much of it recently, since between starting a new job and my mom hurting her leg, I haven't had much long stretches of free time to devote to it. Hopefully I'll be getting back to it soon. ♥
