straightforwardly | 079 | In which Hawke has an adorable girlfriend and is worried about another one of her friends

It’s been only a little over twenty-four hours since my last entry, which means that it’s time to make an update on my Dragon Age 2 playthrough before the length of this entry becomes a monster.

First thing’s first: get rid of the guy who wants to kill Isabela!

Oh God, Hawke and Isabella’s plan-making skills are the BEST. “We could… hit him?”

Also, Isabela’s plan of challenging what’s-his-face to a riddle game and making “Where’s your boss” one of the riddles DEFINITELY WOULD HAVE WORKED, and it's a shame they didn't go through with it.

Isabela’s excitement about this fake-kidnapping is adorable. ♥

In other news, I don’t think Hawke appreciates random thugs attacking her while she’s tracking the trail of her deliberately kidnapped girlfriend.

On one hand, Castillon is a jerk/slaver. On the other hand, Isabela really wants that ship. (Spoilers: she got her ship.)

She seems really convinced that he’ll get his soon enough, so hopefully she’s right about that.

I gave Merrill the Dalish ring, and got BACKSTORY ON THE DALISH GODS. ♥ I adore everything Dalish far too much.

I put Fenris and Aveline in a party together, mainly because it occurred to me that I’ve never done that before, and omg, they have such an adorable friendship. What have I been missing out on.

SPEAKING of banters Isabela’s questions about Fenris’ “magical fisting” was a thing of beauty.

Alright, time to do the Gamlen quest!

Oh, yay, Hawke met a girl-I-barely-remember (Lia) who I think was the one with the serial killer (that is, one of the serial killers) a while back? She thanked Hawke for not listening to her years ago, and Aveline said she’s in the guard now. Yay for happy endings. ♥

LOVED the initial meeting with Charade, though I do find her name very suspicious.

Aveline: “You have a cousin?”
Hawke: “I have a cousin?”

In other news, I am sucking so bad at this Fenris rivalry thing. Why are you supporting family ties when you were just about to kill your backstabbing sister not that long ago??????

And so the cousin+Gamlen were reconciled.

My new good opinion of Gamlen was then harmed, when he mentioned that he’d heard that Hawke had been “slipping it to that pirate slut” and then mused in a creepy-pervy way about how he’s always wondered about what it was like between two women. Hawke does not appreciate you talking about Isabela like that. >:|

SPEAKING OF ISABELA.

Hawke finally got around to talking to her in the Hanged Man, and she was offered a place on her ship! She was sorely tempted, but reluctantly told Isabela that she had commitments keeping her in Kirkwall.

AND THEN ISABELA CONFESSED, AND IT WAS ADORABLE. Basically, she was all, “I think I’m falling for you, please tell me it’s not too late”, and HAWKE JUMPED ON THAT SO FAST. “I’ve waited years for you” and then KISS and it was so cute. <3

Ahaha, Hawke gave her the Rivaini talisman right afterwards, and awkward!conversation was awkward. Just, wow, between this and Aveline’s shield, her gift-giving game is down right now.

After that, I decided it was time to talk to Anders ~~and see if I can get more rivalry points with Fenris cough~~.

Which led to: ANDERS. ._.

Anders: “I knew you’d stand with me on this. Even if…”
Hawke: “What?”
Anders: “Nothing.”

WHAT IS THIS. THIS IS BOTH WORRYING AND SUSPICIOUS.

After getting a bunch of suspicious stuff from a tunnel in Darktown, Anders pointed Hawke in the direction of the Bone Pit! Since I’d noticed earlier that Hubert had a glowy point above his head, I figured I’d see what he wanted and kill two birds with one stone.

HA. “You keep interrogating that horse."

Hubert. You and Hawke are not friends. Hawke does not like you. Stop acting like you two are friends.

HOLY HELL a dragon.

Dragon dead.

...that giant spider doesn’t seem to have quite the same effect, after the GIANT DRAGON.

So, Hawke went back to tell Hubert about what happened, and he said this lovely piece of praise to her: “Upjumped bloody dog lord.”

Anders… is worrying me. Hawke thought that his refusal to tell her why he needed to get into the Chantry was Quite Suspicious, but then Anders appealed to the trust and support she’s always shown in him, and she melted like putty in his hands, and told him that she trusted him.

Seriously, though. “It will not be on your head” Anders what are you planing????

HIS FEATHERY CAPE-THING TURNED BLACK.

and he TRIED TO GIVE VARRIC HIS PILLOW. HIS PILLOW. And then he told Hawke that she was a good, loyal friend, one who was “much better than he deserved”. THIS ALL SOUNDS SUSPICIOUSLY FINAL. FINAL IS NOT GOOD.

Time for a distraction! Like.... Nathaniel! (I hadn't known that Nathaniel was in this game! ♥ ♥ ♥)

(Sorry, Anders. Hawke’s dragging you to the Deep Roads again, mainly because an Anders-Nathaniel reunion is something that I NEED.)

ACHIEVEMENT: MEET NATHANIEL AGAIN: UNLOCKED

Eee, Anders and Nathaniel reunion. “There’s no escaping you, it seems.” Now I just need Velanna, and my favorite Awakenings party’ll be all reunited. ♥ ~~She ran off into the Deep Roads! It’s totally possible for it to happen!~~

Ha, I loved Varric jumping in to call the Wardens idiots for deciding it was less risky to contact Bartrand than Hawke and himself.

”We live in strange times,” Nathaniel says. That’s one way to put it.

BETHANY. ♥

Ha, I loved Nathaniel’s reaction. “Do you know each other?” “....We’re sisters.”

And then the Hawke sisters proceeded to break my heart. Bethany just seems so...broken. She does seem more friendly towards Hawke this time, what with her whole ‘I understand that we didn’t have much of a choice’ thing, but she just seems so defeated. Adding in Hawke saying that she wished that there had been another way, and I was sadfacing all over the place.

And then Nathaniel ruined the mood by having a rather hilariously dramatic zoom-in of his face as he announced that the darkspawn were attacking.

Various killed ogres later, and Hawke+friends were out of the Deep Roads again, sans Nathaniel or sister.

THAT WOULD BE PERFECTION. ♥ Especially since I already want to do so many mage playthroughs. I'm sure Carver will be great (hopefully), but I love Bethany so much, and the idea of going through multiple playthroughs without her is just saddening.

It's like, Anders, I don't know what you're getting up to, but you need some intervening, stat.
He really does.
