111 | Fandom Snowflake Challenge, Day Five (and a very brief Mystic Messenger update)

► My Mystic Messenger update: I spoke too soon re: Zen’s dorkiness. ♥

Though I have to say, I don’t think I like where this is going in regards to Echo Girl… I’m worried that it’s going to hit some tropes that I hate.

► I absolutely love today’s Fandom Snowflake Challenge.
In your own space, post recs for at least three fanworks that you did not create.
Some of you may have picked up on this by now, but… I really love making recs. ♥ My criteria for recs this time around was “the first three fics that occurred to me when I thought, what should I rec?”.

The Dresden Files/Full Metal Alchemist
Accidents Happen by metisket
It’s not so much the strange children falling from the sky that are worrying Harry. It’s more that the children don’t seem to think the situation is all that weird.

“No matter where I go,” Ed said thoughtfully, “there’s a goddamn pyromaniac there waiting for me.”
I read this recently, and it was an absolute delight. Exactly what a crossover should be, imo.

Pokemon
Fidelity by Skylark
It loves its master because it's never learned how to hate. Eventually, Silver learns how to love it back.
It’s been years now since I was last active in the Pokemon fandom, but this is still pretty much my favorite Pokemon fic. It forever shaped how I view Silver as a character, and also marked the first time I began to understand just why people found him so interesting.

Harry Potter
Addendum: He Is Also A Liar by Ergott
Quite by accident, much to his chagrin, young Tom Riddle finds himself temporarily flung into the distant future, where he meets an interesting, bushy-haired little girl. Begins Pre-Hogwarts. Eventual TR/HG.
There are many Harry Potter fics I could rec, but this was the first one that came to mind. Fair warning, this is still a WIP, but I’m fairly confident that it’ll be completed, and it’s really, really good. This story completely sold me on Tom Riddle/Hermione (albeit only within the context of this story), and I love the careful (and in-character!) way the writer handles the growing friendship between Tom and Hermione.

Bonus Rec: For a general author rec, I love everything that Tozette has written. Even the stuff for the fandoms that I don’t know.
