112 | the daily Mystic Messenger update: Zen's Route, Day 09

Mystic Messenger Day Eight/Nine:

So. With Echo Girl. god damn it. That was not what I was worried about, but it’s in the same vein— and honestly, worse than what I was thinking of. I don’t want to go too much into why it makes me so angry, but: it did.

That being said, I’m still enjoying the game itself a whole lot outside of that. I’m so in love with these characters and their relationships with one another at this point. (I kind of wish that I’d started playing it earlier, actually, as there are about a million relationships I’d love to request for [community profile] chocolateboxcomm...but I wouldn’t feel comfortable doing that without first having much more of the game behind me. Ahhhh.)

This actually first hit me yesterday in regards to Zen and Seven, after Seven went to work on helping him— that gave me so many feelings. And then I started finding myself much more interested in Zen and Jumin’s relationship...and then today happened, and I was lost. Totally invested in that relationship now. Between Jumin finally jumping into action when he realized just how serious this was for Zen and that whole VN segment between them at Zen’s secret place… ahhh, all the hearts. I’m sold. I’m 100% sold.

(Jumin being completely oblivious re: Jaedee’s reaction to the television = priceless.)

Some things that I forgot to mention over the last few days: It really surprised me to realize that Seven is genuinely religious! This happened the...day before yesterday, I think? I mean, I know that there was that whole thing with the nun costume, but...I actually didn’t think he was serious about it until I hit the VN segment where he prays.

Also, the guest emails are kind of hilarious? I’m pretty sure that when the main character agreed to her job, she was picturing… just inviting people, not giving advice/therapy or being forced to prove her knowledge through trivia quizzes, haha. Like, I understand the purpose of that mechanic from an outside perspective? But when I think about it from an in-game perspective...well. I’m amused.

Finally… I’m actually really shocked that Zen’s route is almost over! I remember that when I started playing, it felt like it’d take an impossible amount of time before I could learn about everything that’s going on… But now I think I’m actually going to miss it when it’s over. I mean, okay, I do have quite a few more routes to go through… but I ended up shockingly attached to Zen, haha. I’ve gotten used to waking up to his morning phones calls, ahhh. I’m going to miss that.
