173 | on The Borgias

Watched The Borgias. Enjoyed The Borgias. Shipping Cesare/Lucrezia now.

I couldn’t really pull myself away long enough to writing a proper entry about my reactions while watching it, and even got distracted from taking notes partway through the first season, so I can’t rely on anything like that to pull together an initial reaction post.

I will say that I did like more about it than just Cesare/Lucrezia, but they were my favorite part about the show—and the reason why I watched it, in fact, as I knew that they’d be canon in the third season. What no one told me was just how shippy they were even in the very beginning.

The few notes I managed to take before I got completely lost in the story, all from the first season:
- the spying, the face-touching, the “my love”, the “I will cut out his heart with a dinner knife and hand it to you”, the “I don’t think I can ever love a husband as much as you”, his faithful tending in her heartbreak/illness, his refusal to help juan kill djem because of her fondness for him, HE CARRIES HER AWAY BRIDAL STYLE FROM HER OWN WEDDING
- end of season one SHE RECOGNIZES HIM BY HIS HANDS ALONE
Which express my feelings about the matter well enough, I think?

I’m not really a big fan of television, and it’s definitely not the kind of medium that I usually get fannish about, so I don’t know how attached I’ll be to this as a fandom in the long-term. But this pairing does really appeal to me in an iddy way.
