210 | Husky & His White Cat Shizun chapters 5-11
My The Husky & His White Cat Shizun obsession continues. I actually literally had a dream about it two nights ago, haha. Yesterday, someone over at FFA linked me to a translation that someone on Twitter is doing that’s further along than the one on NovelUpdates, so of course I read it all as soon as I had the time to do so.
My thoughts:
A part of me is really regretting not waiting until the translation was further along before starting reading this one, because I’m just so hungry for more! Even this unexpected extra deluge of chapters isn’t enough to sate me, haha.
My thoughts:
- We got to meet the Shizun! Chu Wanning. (Chu WanNing? I don’t usually do that style of capitalization, but I have to admit that “Wanning” doesn’t look quite right to my eyes. Maybe I’ll get used to it.) And ahhh, what an introduction it is! Mo Ran literally goes weak-kneed at the sight of him! He can’t even stay standing! He’s both scared and excited when he sees him again! His life was literally emptier after his Shizun died the first time around! (Granted, it’s in a “worthy enemy” sense, but still—it’s such a strong emotional reaction.)
- On a related note, it’s confirmed that Mo Ran was definitely the person who killed Chu Wanning in their first life. He even tortured him first.
Also, Chu Wanning has a whip that he ties the main character up with. And it forces people to tell the truth. I am into this on so many different levels.- Another thing that I’m really into: basically everything about that wonton scene between Mo Ran and Shi Mei, but especially his memory of Chu Wanning trying to make wontons for him after Shi Mei died the first time around. I am so, so, deathly curious about what went down there! How did Shi Mei die? Why does Mo Ran blame their Shizun for it? I was running under the assumption that this either led to the final break between them or happened after Mo Ran already left, but that can’t be, because Chu Wanning wouldn’t even be able to try to make wontons for him in that case! I want to knoooow.
- On a similar note, I’m really curious about what Chu Wanning’s feelings for Mo Ran were in their first life. I mean, yes, it’s obvious that he cared about him. But were his feelings already romantic even then? Or was it a master’s care for his disciple?
- Chu Wanning’s reaction when Mo Ran and Shi Mei try to defend one another from more punishment… ♥ (This is probably obvious, but Chu Wanning is so intriguing to me! I’m looking forward to finding out more about what’s going on in his mind.) Also, the description of how he slept in the bed was really cute.
- I have a strong feeling that the person who Mo Ran actually kissed in that illusory world the first time around wasn’t Shi Mei, but actually Chu Wanning. It’s just too suspicious! We know it’s an illusory world, and that + the fact that Shi Mei, and I quote “didn’t even fuss over this matter with him” and that it “was as if the kiss never even happened, and neither of them ever brought it up again” really makes me wonder...
