Hello, all of my crossover feelings! I just… love crossovers… It’s to the point where I’ll regularly read crossovers between two canons that I don’t know at all. There’s something so incredibly satisfying about seeing how two different worlds mesh together, especially when the author highlights and contrasts the differences in each canon’s worldbuilding and magic systems. I also deeply love secret reveals, and crossovers are excellent venues for that—I really love watching characters trying to figure the characters from other canons out, with all their abilities/backstories/interesting aspects of their characters and original world being slowly revealed along the way.

When it comes to video game canons, I love it when the game mechanics / fighting system are somehow integrated into the worldbuilding. It’s definitely not necessary—something based on just the plot and characters would also make me very happy—but it is something that I really enjoy if you happen to also be into it.

I have an intense amount of feelings about Sakura, which can be summed up as: she might actually be my all-time favorite fictional character.

With secondary world fantasy canons like Naruto, I do tend to prefer world hopping crossovers as opposed to “these two canons were set in the same world the whole time”. I don’t need too much set-up for how Sakura (or NYY or Rena) get to the other world—a few sentences about a sealing accident/misfired jutsu/planned use of seals or jutsus/random mysterious portals/Nedian technology/weird Airplane-bro-esque plotline/anything along those lines work well enough for me. I’d definitely prefer for the focus of the fic to be about Sakura (or NYY or Rena) actually being in and interacting with the other world.

This is a request where I care more about the set-up / relationship than the tags, and so mostly chose tags that I felt worked well with my crossover and/or Sakura feelings; I’ll list the requested tags here for clarity, but don’t have anything in particular to add to them:

With Sakura and Ning Yingying, I just have massive amounts of feelings about how they both start off their respective canons with the characters around them seeing them as being just ~silly, love-struck girls~, and then proceeding to grow stronger and more competent as time goes on.

If you’re doing Sakura going to Scum Villain, I’m particularly interested in seeing them interact in post-canon Scum Villain, or at least post-Endless Abyss! If you’re doing NYY going to Naruto, any time period for NYY is good. On Sakura’s side, I’d like her to be at least a genin when they meet, but beyond that, I’m also flexible with time periods! ♥

With Sakura & Rena—I don’t have any particular thoughts about their relationship, but Star Ocean: The Second Story is quite possibility the nostalgia fandom of my heart (to the extent that just opening up the in-game menu made me literally teary-eyed with feelings when I last revisited it, haha) and I’ve always loved Rena deeply; I just want to see my two faves interact. ...And it just belatedly hit me that they’re both healers who punch things, so if you want to play with that point of connection, please yes do!

Canon divergence where Sakura’s the alien that Rena runs into instead of (or in addition to?) Claude? Post-canon adventures where a Rena who knows more about herself and her history and also the existence of other worlds runs into Sakura. Sakura crashing into their journey mid-story Opera and Ernest-style??? Anything’s great, really!

A note on Rena & Claude’s relationship—I love their friendship deeply and dearly; it’s one of my favorite relationships in the game—but I don’t ship them, so please don’t have them as a background established relationship or anything like that.

Sakura in YYH — would love to see Sakura interact with any of the main four or Yukina (or Botan!), but really, anything’s great. I feel like Naruto and YYH are canons that go really well together and would love to see it! Maybe something about Sakura’s adventures in the demon realm? Sakura taking on the four saint beasts before they cause trouble in the YYH canon timeline? Sakura crashing in on Keiko & Botan’s fight/flight during the four saint beasts arc? Sakura literally crashing straight into the middle of a Dark Tournament match via unexpected portal? Sakura becoming the fifth member of Team Urameshi, whether due to a Genkai death (both the canonical one or via Genkai having confronted Toguro earlier) or in place of Genkai? Sakura wandering the human realm and coming across an imprisoned Yukina? The sky’s the limit!

Melissa Podebrat in YYH [↑]
Melissa’s an absolute DELIGHT, and I feel like setting her loose on the YYH setting has enormous potential. I love Melissa’s talent with a sword, so would love to see more of that. As with my Sakura request, I’m not too finicky with how she gets there; random portal accident works just as well as anything. Unless, of course, you have a particular set-up that you want to use, in which case, go for it!

As with the Sakura request, I care more about the set-up / relationship than the tags, and so mostly chose tags that I felt worked well with my crossover feelings & don’t have much to say about any of them in particular. Again, I’ll list them here for clarity:

Beyond that… I don’t have too many specific prompts? I just want to see Melissa set loose on the YYH setting and see what she manages to achieve. As with Sakura, I’d love to see her interact with the main four and/or Yukina; I’d also love to see her interact with the women of YYH in general. Her coming across an imprisoned Yukina would also be amazing!! Just… imagine what Melissa would do with Tarukane. Imagine it. I can’t picture an outcome that would be anything other than delightful.

I’m also kind of delighted by the image of Melissa cheerfully wreaking havoc across the YYH setting while Yuri and Nine are frantically worrying about her / trying to find her and/or a way to reach her, so if you want to play with that concept, feel free! If you want to have them interacting with one part of the YYH cast while Melissa interacts with another part of the cast / is just going solo and/or whaling on OC demons or corrupt businessmen or something, that could also be really fun!

Fire Emblem Fates [↑]

Laslow & Selena & Odin [↑]
I have a truly ridiculous amount of feelings about these three. I already really liked them in Awakening, and getting to see them again in Fates was… amazing. Plotwise, I cry a lot about how underutilized their plotline was in Revelations after having spent all that effort setting it up, but in terms of characterization and relationships, I am awash in both emotion and iddy delight.

I loved seeing how they’ve grown and matured as people over the years, and I also loved seeing the ways in which their relationships with each other have also changed and grown. I love the concept of the three of them being strangers in a strange world together, with no one else familiar with their pasts and histories but each other. The Awakening kids are already a small group of time-traveling survivors from a post-apocalyptic world, and adding dimensional travel into the mix is just… these three have lived through so much, and the only ones who can truly share in and understand the entirety of those experiences are the other two members of this trio. The kind of bond something like that must create fascinates me—and Odin & Laslow’s S-Support really got to me in part because of that.

On top of that, I also just have an iddy love of secrets and the potential for secrets being revealed, and their plotline is absolutely perfect for that. I ultimately decided against requesting the secret reveal tags—mostly because I felt like it’d be unfair to request these three as a relationship & then say “okay, for this tag I want them interacting with xyz character as well”—but if you want to work a secret reveal or other characters Noticing Something Off or anything along those lines into your fic, please feel absolutely free to do so.

Finally, I also have a looooooooooooot of iddy feelings about the loyalty they feel towards & the relationships they have with their liege lords (as well as Odin’s relationship with Niles), so if you want to play with those relationships your fic as well, I’d be very here for that!

Re: Laslow’s flirting — he can casually flirt with Selena, since it’s him, but in the context of this request I’d rather it be something habitual/instinctual rather than something he’s serious about, if it’s included at all.

Dimension Travel
I’m thinking about this tag in terms of the canonical dimension travel—essentially, this is your freespace to explore these three’s experience of being in Nohr in whatever shape or form you please! Worldbuilding, cultural differences, the burden of the secrets they keep, memories from their old world (both the timeline they were born in & the new one they helped create!) coming back to haunt them, the sense of connection that being literally the only people from their own world in this place creates… anything along those lines and more would be excellent & would be something I’d consider related to this tag!

Or maybe one of their original timeline companions or one of their living parents from Awakening’s main timeline manage to do some dimension travelling of their own while searching for these three after they disappeared? For reference, I adore Olivia, and am also really fond of Lucina and Lissa.

aka my heartbreaking Birthright route tags. Which is not to say that you can’t go with other interpretations—I love both of these tags a lot and would love to see what you come up with!—but that’s absolutely where my mind went with here.

Maybe something dealing with Odin & Selena mourning Laslow after he dies during the Birthright route? Maybe they’re being haunted by him—or think they are; I’d definitely be up for an ambiguous “is this haunting real or not” kind of fic—or maybe they try to bring him back!

Alternatively: Laslow is spared by Corrin during the Birthright battle, but that doesn’t stop one or more of these three from trying to bring Xander and/or Elise back—only for it to all go horribly wrong. Or maybe Laslow’s the one being haunted—haunted by Xander’s (and maybe also Peri’s, if she wasn’t spared) ghost.

Yu Yu Hakusho [↑]

A note on shippy content: I’m fine with references to Yusuke’s canonical relationship with Keiko or Kuwabara’s canonical crush on Yukina (though please don’t have her explicitly returning his feelings; genuine deep fondness for him + canon-style not really understanding what he’s getting at with his declarations is fine). I do ship Hiei/Kurama, but also love their relationship as it is in canon, and obviously don’t expect or even particularly want shippy content from this exchange; on that front, all I ask is that you don’t have them being romantically/sexually interested in anyone else during the present timeline.

THESE TWO ;_;

The very first episode of YYH I ever saw was the episode where Yusuke first comes back to life—but my next encounter with YYH was a rental that included the episode 99-100 Hiei backstory episodes, and that (and, specifically, Hiei and Hiei & Yukina’s relationship) was when and how I first truly fell in love with YYH.

I’m always weak for sibling relationships of all kinds, and adding in all the layers of secrets and potential for identity reveals and protectiveness and devotion (particularly Hiei’s devotion, & how it comes from someone who doesn’t care very much about other people in general—the contrast between how he treats & feels about Yukina versus everything else!)… it’s basically a cocktail of ingredients made for my id specifically. I love them so much!

In terms of their backstory-related inconsistencies: as cute as Hiei secretly watching over bby!Yukina playing with animals is, I nonetheless tend to go with the details revealed in episodes 99/100 (since that was my introduction them)—i.e., the two of them being twins, etc.

The elephant in the room! Like I mentioned above, I have all sorts of feelings about Hiei not telling Yukina that he’s the brother she’s been searching for… and, of course, my id is always hungry for a good secret reveal! (Though, of course, I’m also really here for fic that teases and plays with said secret the same way canon does. It’s just so iddy for me!)

As a kid, I always assumed that Yukina never knew the truth. Rewatching it as an adult, though, I’ve come to think that by the end of the series, she does know—with her first beginning to suspect it when Hiei saves her from the falling stadium during the Dark Tournament arc, and coming to a firmer conclusion by the time we get to her giving him the hiruiseki stone.

That all being said, I’m actually here for any take on Yukina’s level of knowledge! You can have it come as a complete surprise, a confirmation of what she already knew, or anything in-between! Or if you want to break my heart and feed my id at the same time, a part of me’s into the idea of her knowing that Hiei’s her brother, but misunderstanding his reason for not telling her—namely, thinking he doesn’t want to acknowledge her as family because of resentment towards the ice maidens as a whole. ;_; I’ve also read at least one fic where she suspected he’s her brother but then decided that she had to be wrong, because Hiei was just too straightforward of a person not to tell her about something like that, which I was also into!

tl;dr I have my own thoughts and theories about Yukina’s canonical level of knowledge re: who Hiei is, but for the sake of a good fic am 100% up for basically any take on it.

To be absolutely clear, I would also be very, very here for Hiei hugging Yukina; I just think that it’d be a lot more difficult to set up, haha.

Hiei’s protectiveness and care towards Yukina gives me life, and I will never get tired of seeing him rescuing her or otherwise looking after her. Also… the thought of his getting badly injured for her sake… delicious.

Relatedly, I would also be absolutely delighted to see Yukina return the favor! Yukina taking a blow meant for Hiei (and his reaction to that)! Yukina quietly and subtly taking care of Hiei in small, non-battle-related ways!

Love characters being stranded together and having to work together! Obviously Hiei’s super-capable of looking after himself, but I also would really love to see Yukina’s competence come into play. Her healing ability is probably the most obvious useful skill, but I personally really adore her freezing ability, her tolerance for pain, and her quiet determination. (Honestly, both siblings have incredible levels of determination, imo—it’s just that both express that determination differently, one more like fire and the other ice, if you’d excuse the uncreative comparison.) I also have a lot of feelings about the interplay between Yukina’s genuine kindness but also her very much still being a demon / someone inhuman, so if you want to play with that, please do!

As for how they get stranded… I don’t need a specific reason if you just want to focus on their time there, but I’m also up for basically any plotline / excuse you can come up with! One thing that comes to mind is the robe Shishiwakamaru uses during the Dark Tournament. Maybe it somehow gets redirected towards Yukina’s direction in the crowd, Hiei races to intercept it, and they both get swallowed up and taken far away?

My hyena brain has been laughing at this concept ever since the idea of nominating this tag came to me. I don’t even know how Yukina would get roped into working on a case, since she’s never been beholden to the spirit world—maybe she volunteers? idk—but the thought of these two having to pretend to be siblings while Hiei’s actively hiding the fact that he is the brother Yukina’s searching for while Yukina either has no idea or is pretending that she doesn’t know just makes me laugh so much. It’s such a fun and delightful concept!

I also have a lot of feelings about Hiei’s canonical death wish in the final arc and would love, love, love to see Yukina finding out + the fallout of that. Both canon-compliant and AUs where she’s the one he works out those feelings with are great!

My first thought is Hiei being the one who’s sick—especially if he tries to hide it / collapses in front of her / anything along those lines—but, again, I’m up for whatever you come up with! I do have a special love of fevers, in case that information is useful to you.

Wow do I ever love these four!! Or subsection of three, depending on which of these tags you matched on; either way, it’s true.

Hiei’s my forever fave; I loved him as a child, and I still adore him now. Kurama fascinates me, particularly when it comes to the contrast between his outward politeness/kindness and his potential for ruthlessness; I also think he has the most fascinating combat capabilities and love the potential for plant-based body horror. Kuwabara is a character who I’ve grown to love more and more the older I get—I adore how sincerely good he is, in a way the others very much aren’t, and I have to admire how incredibly resilient he is. He’s always fighting way above his weight class, and the way he perseveres through getting beaten up so badly until he can come out on top is pretty admirable. And, of course, I love the relationships Yusuke has with all of them & the ways in which he brings them all together.

Re: the Hiei & Kuwabara & Kurama relationship in particular—I feel like that brief scene where Hiei & Kurama are training Kuwabara for the Dark Tournament captures a lot of what I like about their dynamic. Kurama’s cruel to be kind method of training—Hiei acting outwardly harsh when interacting with Kuwabara directly, but Kurama revealing that he was actually going easy on him because he was worried about his human squishiness—it’s all very good!

(If you want to write a fic that fleshes out that sequence in particular or otherwise takes place during it, idk if it fits exactly with any of my tags—maybe the team bonding one?—but regardless, please do go for it, because I’d love that!)

One of the things I crave the most from fic for this canon is plotty gen, which is where these tags come in! Post-canon, canon divergences, missing scenes, dealings with ghosts, dealings with demons, dealings with other kinds of supernatural beings—honestly, the sky’s the limit! I’m really up for anything you come up with.

With the “Solving a Mystery from the Past” tag—maybe something from Kurama’s long and storied history as a thief? Something from Kuwabara’s pre-canon spiritual experiences that he then decides to investigate when he gets older? Something from canon that then gets explored in a canon divergent setting?

With the characters traveling together tag, I admit it’s mostly inspired by me crying about the four of them getting split up at the end of canon, haha. I just want them to be a team and working & fighting together forever! I love them so much!

I’m also good with you building a plot off of a crossover with another fantasy canon—I love crossovers, and don’t particularly care if I’m familiar with the other canon or not!

Maybe Kuwabara’s experimenting with his dimension sword and things don’t quite go according to plan? Crossovers are also good here!

Rescue Missions
Let! Them! Save! Each other! I don’t care who is kidnapped / in danger; I just want to see the other three teaming up to rescue them.

Alternatively… I realize this is fairly specific, but: as a kid, I knew of the existence of the Rescue Yukina arc, but could never get my hands on it, and so spent a lot of time daydreaming about different ways it could’ve gone down. That has now led to adult me (who has seen it, along with the rest of the series) craving all the different takes and rewrites of that arc, however you might define that—Yusuke & co. going on the mission without knowing Yukina’s Hiei’s sister & maybe finding out along the way, no Toguro involvement, Kurama being more directly involved, really anything, just as long as the basic elements of “Yukina being held captive by Tarukane for her tears & the others going to rescue her” are kept in place.

If you read my Hiei & Yukina section, you’ve probably already realized that I find secret reveals really, really iddy. I’m good with basically any secret you can think of being revealed; all I ask that it either be a canonical secret or something based in canon.

I’m also equally here for one or more of the requested characters learning one of the other’s secrets, or for the secret to be revealed outside of the group. So: stuff like Kurama’s mother or one of his classmates learning that he’s a demon or that he has unusual abilities would definitely be great! Ditto with one of Yusuke and/or Kuwabara’s classmates or even Yusuke’s mother learning more about the unusual shit going down.

One thing I’d be particularly into is Kuwabara finding out that Hiei and Yukina are siblings. I understand why Kuwabara never learned the truth in-series—if nothing else, I have a hard time seeing him agreeing to not tell her, haha—but I would really love to see him finally find out + the fallout of that happening!

I love seeing people get injured for people they care about (especially if they don’t acknowledge the depth of that care I’M LOOKING AT YOU HIEI AND KUWABARA and also just Hiei and everyone), and I love the depths of loyalty and care, openly acknowledged or not, that exists between these four even when some of the individual relationships between them are filled with bickering.

Mistakenly Believed To Be Dead
The Upsetting Realization That Someone You Care About Has A Death Wish
The “believed to be dead” scenario happens a few times in canon, but I’m always hungry for more! One thing I’d really, really love to see is Hiei being the one mistaken for dead. We’ve seen all of them get really emotional over Yusuke’s death or Kuwabara’s supposed death, and we’ve seen Yusuke react to Kurama trying to sacrifice himself for his mother, but, iirc, we never see anything similar happen with Hiei, and I want it so bad!

Ditto with the death wish—it’s canon that Hiei has one in the final arc, but iirc he works it out with Mukuro, not with his friends, and I’m just forever crying about the missed opportunity there.

POV Outsider
I love outsider POV in all its forms. There’s just something so delightful about seeing the characters & relationships I love being filtered through someone else’s perspective—especially when the featured POV doesn’t have all the facts and/or is trying to piece things together.

Some POV ideas: Kurama’s mother! One of Kurama’s classmates! One of Yusuke or Kuwabara’s classmates! That big bandit demon who helped raise Hiei! Or maybe one of the other female characters as a POV—my love for Yukina makes her spring first to mind, but someone like Koto would be good too!

Unexpectedly Meeting People From One's Past While With New Companions
This has a similar appeal as outsider POV, in that I really love the idea of seeing people who knew a character in the past reacting to their new circumstances!

I’m mostly thinking people from Kurama or Hiei’s pasts, since they’ve had the most changes in their life & that’d probably be the most interesting. One possibility that comes to mind are the demon bandits who raised Hiei, especially the big bulky one (mostly because I thought their initial interactions when Hiei was a baby were delightful and Hiei’s expression when he first realizes that he’s become afraid of Hiei haunts me), but Kurama also has a really, really long history that could be put into play in a fun way here!

Animal Transformation
I feel like one (or two or three!) of these four turning into an animal has the potential to be both hilarious and disastrous, and I am absolutely here for it.

Character Accidentally Acquires A Pet Cat
Both normal cats and demon monster cats (with animal-level intelligence) would be great! I love all cats tbh. Overall, I have a mild preference for Hiei, Kurama, and/or Yusuke being the cat-acquirer if we’re talking normal cats, since Kuwabara is already blessed with a kitty in canon, but ultimately I’m up for anything! Or maybe it’s all four of them who are adopted by the cat?

With demon monster cats… the idea of Kuwabara either unknowingly taking in or being bafflingly adopted by a demon monster cat who just Senses that he’s a cat person is utterly delightful to me. Similarly, I’m also really entertained by the idea of Yusuke or one of the others accidentally acquiring a demon monster cat & going to Kuwabara for cat advice that may or may not actually apply to their situation.

Time Loop
I don’t have a whole lot to say about this tag in particular; I just… really, really like time loops and would love to see whatever you come up with!
