pokepodproject today! Rather last minute—sign-ups end tonight and I'm going to be spending much of the day away from home—but I’ve been wary of overcommitting myself. A part of me really wanted to offer to write three fics, but I don’t want to overdo it, so I just offered two, chosen from four potential Pokémon. I’m telling myself that I can always pick up pinch hits if I find that I can and want to do more!
I was also careful to brainstorm concepts that I thought could fit into the 100-1000 wordcount limit while choosing which Pokémon to offer. So hopefully that will help too, in the spirit of not overdoing it/not overloading my personal stress levels. I just think this is the coolest concept and I’m very excited for it.
►justmarriedexchange revealed recently. I didn’t participate, and I haven’t actually looked through much of the collection beyond throwing a few fics in my marked-for-later list, but…! There is one exception to that, and that’s this fic, which I just had to read immediately. And I’m glad I did, because I really liked it!
► The above fic references a poem (always a winner, in my book)— “Iphigenia” by Edwin Arnold. I had to look it up immediately, of course, and I rather liked it, so I’m copying it over here for my own records.

Ooh, thank you for that fic rec too. I'm still very new to Greek myth (I've been listening to audiobooks about it at bedtime for a while - it's been fun) and the more I learn, the more fascinating I find it.

I wouldn't consider myself to be an expert on Greek mythology, in that most of my knowledge is based on memories of what child!me gathered while reading encyclopedia articles*, haha, but I do feel like I have a decent grasp of... general knowledge about it? And I've always liked it! Artemis in particular is a lifelong fave of mine <3 If you'd ask me to name a favorite god or goddess from any world mythology, she's likely to be the first one I think of.
*Well, okay, I do remember also reading at least one book about Jason when I was in elementary school—and being very upset and confused about what happened with Medea—so I probably read some other actual books about it too, not just the encyclopedia articles. But those articles were almost definitely my initial introduction to the subject.

I love that you enjoyed Greek mythology as a child, and I can totally see why you'd be upset about Medea 😔 Yay for general knowledge! XD (I've started to notice more questions on TV quizzes about it that I can finally answer now, haha.) I really need to listen to some more audiobooks on the topic. As in, actually listen to them instead of falling asleep after a few minutes, ahhh.
Oooh Artemis is a good fave. A song came on my Spotify Discover Weekly recently about Artemis. It's kind of cheesy but I like it :D
